Herndon, Virginia; August 29, 2011. Nationally recognized children’s book publisher, Mascot Books, announces Faith Nielsen as the winner of the inaugural Mascot Books Author of the Year Award.

The Mascot Books Author of the Year Award honors the contributions of an outstanding author that has published a children’s title under the recently launched Mascot Books Author Program. The award’s selection criteria include:

• Publication of an outstanding children’s literature.
• Passion for the craft of writing and children’s storytelling.
• Commitment to entertaining children, and interest in promoting children’s literacy.
